Norwegian Star passenger alleges she was injured by a fallen sign post

Cruise 04

MIAMI – A Norwegian Star passenger is suing the cruise ship's operators over injuries she alleges she sustained aboard the ship.

Bach-Tuyet Chau filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against NCL (Bahamas) LTD., doing business as Norwegian Cruise Lines, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while she was walking on Deck 13 on March 27, 2015, a gust of wind tipped an unsecured sign post, causing it to fall on her path, which she tripped over and fell. She alleges she was injured as a result. The plaintiff holds Norwegian Cruise Lines responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the common area in a reasonably safe condition, failed to adequately secure the sign post and failed to exercise reasonable care in managing the area.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages and the costs of this action. She is represented by Philip M. Gerson and Nicholas I. Gerson of Gerson and Schwartz PA in Miami.
