MIAMI – A passenger is suing a cruise line alleging that she was injured in a slip-and-fall incident on a cruise ship.

Maryjane Bassett filed a complaint on March 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against NCL LTD, doing business as Norwegian Cruise Lines Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 28, 2015, she slipped and fell on a slippery wet floor causing her severe bodily injuries while aboard the Pride of America. The plaintiff holds Norwegian Cruise Lines Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train employees to warn passengers of the dangerous conditions, failed to design and install non-skid or non-slip walking surfaces and failed to safely and properly keep floorings dry.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, prejudgment interest and all court costs. She is represented by Paul M. Hoffman of Hoffman Law Firm in Fort Lauderdale.
