Woman accuses Standard Insurance Co. of failing to comply with policy

Insurance 08

JACKSONVILLE – A disabled woman is suing her plan administrator seeking long-term disability benefits.

Penny Schnyder filed a complaint on March 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Standard Insurance Co., alleging that the plan administrator violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has not received her benefits under the long-term disability plan. The plaintiff holds Standard Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the provisions of the insurance policy and failed to pay her benefits under the plan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order for the reinstatement of her benefits, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs and such other relief that the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by William S. Coffman Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
