MIAMI – A Broward County man alleges that a pet shop denies full and equal access to customers with disabilities.

Lional Dalton filed a complaint on March 22, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Teacup Puppies Store, citing violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he experienced serious difficulty accessing the defendant's facility on March 15 due to the architectural barriers in place and was denied equal enjoyment of the goods and services offered at the property. The plaintiff holds Teacup Puppies Store responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide grab bars at the restrooms, failed to provide sufficient clear floor space around a water closet, failed to provide proper knee clearance for a disabled person under a counter or sink and failed to provide proper signage to the closest available accessible restroom.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order requiring defendant to alter the property to make it accessible to individuals with disabilities, an order directing defendant to evaluate their procedures toward persons with disabilities, reasonable attorney's fees and costs and any further relief as the court may deem necessary, just and proper. He is represented by Jessica Kerr of J & M Advocacy Group LLC in Hollywood.
