Woman alleges Second Chance Jai-Alai retaliated against her

Justice

OCALA – A Marion County woman alleges she was retaliated against for taking leave.

Jackee Voorhees-Wilson filed a complaint on March 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Ocala Division against Second Chance Jai-Alai LLC, citing alleged retaliation and violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she took time off due to the death of her son and to seek therapy. The plaintiff holds Second Chance Jai-Alai LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inform her of her rights under the FMLA, failed to inform her of her available leave, and drastically reduced her working hours as a result of taking time off.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all damages; back pay and front pay; attorney's fees, costs and interest; and any further relief that the court may deem just and appropriate. She is represented by Richard Celler of Richard Celler Legal PA in Davie.
