Aetna accused of denying disability benefits

TAMPA – A man his suing his insurance company over its alleged denial of long-term disability benefits.

Christopher Clark filed a complaint on March 11 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Aetna Life Insurance Co. citing violation the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has not received benefits under the employee welfare benefit plan from the defendant. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to apply the provisions of the plan and failed to pay him the sums due pursuant to the long-term disability insurance policy.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for benefits due under the plan, plus interest, attorneys' fees and costs and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by William S. Coffman of Coffman Law in Tampa.
