Money owed

MIAMI – A sign maker is suing his former employer claiming he was not paid overtime.

Jesus Lazaro Collar filed a class-action lawsuit on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Abalux Inc. and Juan Cabral, citing violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Aug. 1, 2013, and Jan. 15, he did not receive minimum wage or overtime premiums for work performed in excess of 40 hours each week. The plaintiff holds Abalux Inc. and Cabral responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to pay his overtime wages as required by the FLSA.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for double damages, reasonable attorney fees, costs and interest and any other relief that the court may find reasonable under the circumstances. He is represented by J.H. Zidell of J.H. Zidell PA in Miami Beach.
