Woman sues cruise ship line over alleged fall on wet floor

MIAMI — A woman is suing a cruise ship line over injuries she allegedly suffered when she fell on a wet tile floor.

Ena Arbona is suing is suing Carnival Inc., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, alleging negligence in an incident she says occurred aboard the vessel Carnival Breeze.

Arbona sued on Feb. 29 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, claiming failure to meet the standards of the International Safety Management Code.

The plaintiff alleges that, on Oct. 12, 2015, she slipped and fell on a wet and slippery tiled floor on Deck 5 causing her injuries. The plaintiff holds Carnival Cruise Lines responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide reasonable care under the circumstance, failed to provide reasonable safe passage aboard its vessel, failed to maintain the area in a reasonably safe condition, failed to provide a slip-resistant floor, failed to provide adequate lighting in the area, failed to warn passengers of the dangerous and hazardous condition and failed to have an adequate safety management system manual aboard the vessel.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for physical pain and mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings and loss of capacity to earn.
