Law money 10

MIAMI – A chauffeur is suing his former employer alleging that he was not paid overtime.

Jose Mendez filed a complaint on Feb. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Prestige Transportation Service LLC and Ricardo Hernandez, citing violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between November 2011 and February 2015, he did not receive overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Prestige Transportation Service LLC and Hernandez responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the statutory rate of time-and-one-half of his regular rate for each hour worked in excess of the 40 hour work week.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for liquidated damages, attorney's fees and costs, post-judgment interest and any other relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Ricardo R. Corona of Corona Law Firm, PA in Miami.
