MIAMI — A Georgia woman is suing Carnival Cruise Lines, claiming she was injured while on a cruise aboard the vessel Carnival Fascination.

Tonya Merritt sued on Feb. 22 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Miami Division, accusing Carnival of alleged design defect, failure to warn and negligence.

The plaintiff alleges that, on Oct. 20,, she tripped and violently fell over a threshold and suffered severe and debilitating injuries. The plaintiff holds Carnival Cruise Lines responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care for the safety of its passengers.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for damages, medical expenses, loss of ability to earn money, loss of capacity to enjoy life, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, costs for this action and any other relief that the court may deem just and appropriate. She is represented by Spencer Marc Aronfeld of Aronfeld Trial Lawyers in Coral Gables, Florida.
