Woman says negligence aboard ship caused injuries

Carnival

MIAMI — A Florida woman is suing a cruise ship company, claiming she was injured in a slip-and-fall incident.

Beverly Michlin is suing MSC Cruises S.A., formerly known as MSC Crociere S.A., alleging failure to warn and negligence that resulted in an injury while aboard the cruise ship Divina.

Michlin sued on Feb. 12 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleging that MSC failed to properly train its employees in cleaning and drying wet areas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Oct. 25, 2014, she slipped and fell hard down a flight of stairs, resulting in severe injuries. The plaintiff holds MSC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to implement reasonable care to warn and protect passengers aboard the vessel.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for economic and non-economic damages, loss of ability to earn money, medical expenses, loss of capacity to enjoy life and any other relief that the court may deem just or appropriate. She is represented by Brandon L. Chase of the Law Offices of Brandon L. Chase, P.A. and Mishaal Patel of Legacy Law, P.A. in Miami in Florida.
