Cruise

MIAMI—A Lee County woman is suing a cruise line over allegations that her arm was injured when an employee struck her with a heavy door.

Eugenia I. Martinez-Caballero filed suit in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Florida on Jan. 13 against NCL Corporation, LTD., owner and operator of the Norwegian Epic cruise ship, citing negligence.

According to the claim, Martinez-Caballero was aboard the Epic on Jan. 16, 2015, when an employee allegedly struck the plaintiff’s upper arm while opening a heavy metal door. The plaintiff claims to have suffered physical and mental pain, in addition to incurring medical expenses from the incident. She alleges that it was the defendant’s responsibility to maintain a safe environment on the cruise ship.

Martinez-Caballero seeks damages, post-judgment interest, costs and any further relief deemed acceptable by the court. She is represented by Brian Lee Tannebaum of Tannebaum Weiss, PL, in Miami.
